Chicago, IL – May 5, 2024 – GE HealthCare unveiled SIGNA MAGNUS, a high-performance head-only MR scanner designed to advance the field of neuroscience. The system aims to overcome the limitations faced by conventional whole-body MR systems in exploring complex imaging procedures in neurology, oncology, and psychiatry.

The SIGNA MAGNUS system is positioned to revolutionize MR research in the realms of neurology, oncology, and psychiatry. It represents a significant leap forward in the study of psychiatric diseases and neurological disorders such as Alzheimer’s, areas that have been restricted by the capabilities of existing MRI technology.

Kelly Londy, CEO of MR GE HealthCare, emphasized the groundbreaking nature of SIGNA MAGNUS, stating, "With SIGNA MAGNUS, we are not just exploring the possibility of providing the tool; we are setting new benchmarks in medical research and future clinical patient care." Londy highlighted the profound impact the system is expected to have on patient outcomes and the understanding of the human brain.

The innovative capabilities of SIGNA MAGNUS include superior gradient performance with HyperG gradient technology, enabling the detection of fine details previously unattainable. The system is designed to facilitate advanced anatomical, diffusion, and functional techniques, supported by cutting-edge deep-learning algorithms. This technology opens up new research opportunities, allowing for the discovery of novel parameters and biomarkers in neuroscience.

Carl-Fredrik Westin, PhD, the principal investigator at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, expressed excitement about the possibilities offered by SIGNA MAGNUS, stating, "With this system, we will be able to measure things that weren’t possible with conventional MRI. We can ask questions we couldn’t ask before."

By fostering innovation and collaboration, GE HealthCare aims to drive advancements in medical research and healthcare delivery, ultimately translating scientific progress into meaningful health outcomes for patients worldwide.

To learn more about SIGNA MAGNUS, interested individuals can visit the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (ISMRM) Annual Meeting, taking place from May 4-9, 2024, in Singapore or online at gehealthcare.com.
