Goldman Sachs announced its One Million Black Women has joined forces with Hall of Fame women’s basketball player and coach, Dawn Staley, to shine a spotlight on the racial wealth gap in the United States. This collaboration is emphasized in an advertisement referencing data from the recently unveiled Money Matters: One Million Black Women Economic Mobility Survey. The initiative aims to draw attention to the financial inequalities faced by Black women and advocate for solutions that narrow these gaps.

The following details provide further insights into this important development. Produced and directed by Maura Chanz and ColorCreative, a management company dedicated to supporting women and BIPOC creators, this national ad will debut on November 6, 2023, on connected TV and digital platforms. The survey findings underscore the disproportionate financial and job insecurity faced by Black women in America, intensifying inequalities in healthcare, retirement, and childcare. This data, coupled with real stories from Black women nationwide, will be used to advocate for policy solutions aimed at narrowing these gaps, according to a press release by Goldman Sachs.

Key figures have lent their voices to address these economic disparities. "Black women in America are often heads of households yet they face a disproportionate share of economic inequality," said Staley, Head Coach of South Carolina Women’s Basketball, according to a press release by Goldman Sachs. "Together with Goldman Sachs One Million Black Women, I want to encourage all Americans to join us in addressing the racial wealth gap by uplifting Black women. In order to win as a society, we must all have the opportunity to reach our full potential, which includes Black women."

Adding another perspective, "Coach Staley’s support for Black women is an inspiration and we thank her for lending her voice to the One Million Black Women initiative," said Jessica Taylor, National Director of One Million Black Women, according to a press release by Goldman Sachs. "Together, we will help drive solutions that advance the economic mobility and potential of Black women and their communities. We are excited by the collective opportunities that lie ahead."
