Danville Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on Aug. 30.

WYRZ, a Hendricks County nonprofit radio station, and Hendricks Power Cooperative, a local utility provider, have announced their partnership to raise funds for Thirteen not for profit organizations that serve Hendricks County. Hosted by the Hendricks County 4-H Fairgrounds, the 2nd Annual Rockin’ Hendricks County event, featuring a mechanical bull riding contest with local celebrities, will take place on Saturday, October 6th in the Horse Arena.

While the inaugural event benefitted more than ten nonprofits, the momentum has increased the number of participants as well as a need a for a larger venue to house various other fun activities that evening. Each organization will have a rider representing them, taking their turns on the saddle in hopes of winning various proceeds from ticket sales and event fundraising. Two winners from last year, Rock Steady Boxing of Brownsburg and the Northwest County Education Foundation, will be returning to defend their title. Rain or shine, these riders have committed to showing off their rodeo style.

WYRZ Executive Director Shane Ray said, “With Hendricks Power Cooperative coming on as the presenting sponsor, along with the perfect atmosphere of the Horse Arena at the 4-H Fairgrounds, this is sure to make a memorable community event. It will be even better than last year.” The charities have a chance to keep all of the donation money they’ve collected for the event, if their rider stays on the longest. The organization that raises the most money will also keep 100% of their donations. The remaining competing nonprofits will do a 50/50 split with WYRZ Hendricks County Media Education Foundation.

“We are excited to be part of such a fun event,” stated Dana Cochran, Director of Marketing at Hendricks Power Cooperative. “One of our core values is “Commitment to Community” and supporting this event will help raise money and awareness for multiple local non-profits. We hope to see many of our members supporting our community on Oct. 6th.

There will be several food trucks as well as one serving beer & spirits, making the event only open to adults 21 and older. A game area will be available for the crowd’s enjoyment. Local group Mississippi Raglips and the River Dogs Rock and Blues Revue will be providing the music. Tickets are limited, so get them early by going to https://rockinhc.eventbrite.com. You will be prompted to choose a rider/organization before you purchase. For other information, call WYRZ at 317-852-1610.
